Larbre Competition was founded in 1988 by Jack Leconte, a passionate fan of motor sport in general and the porsche marque in particular. A great sports enthusiast and former Moto-Cross Champion, Jack was able to build and develop the team while at the same time overseeing the sucess of his transport and logistics company. For the year 2000, Jack Leconte has decided to take the plunge and to devote himself full-time to motor sport, in order to consolidate the positiion of Larbre Competition as a major player in the Grand Tourisme category. Larbre Competition has since its inception specialised in long-distance racing - the Le Mans 24 Hour Race, the BPR and FIA GT Championships have given it many successes, all at the wheel of Porsche 911's the famous model from stuttgart. Following its victories in 1994 in the BPR Championship and the Le Mans 24 Hour race, Larbre Competition in 1995 moved into purpose-built workshop and offices, constructed at the Val de Vienne circuit in central France. This allowed it even greater scope for success and to obtain the offical support of the Porsche factory, in the form of engine preperation, works engineer support and the loan of experimental parts. Larbre Competition is today one of the major Porsche endurance racing teams. Larbre Competition has made a large financial investment for 2000, with the help of its long-term partner, Chereau. The team has renewed all its equipment, including three new cars, two new Raceline transports, a pit installation to Formula One standards, a new livery for its drivers and personnel, and the recruitment of new staff, all with one objective - to win the FIA N-GT Championship. Larbre Competition's headquarters are situated directly next to the Val de Vienne cicuit, which allows it unparalleled opportunities for testing on the 3.75 kilometre long track. The workshop is superbly equipped, with six workstations, each with its own hydraulic car lift; a composites shop; an engine and gearbox shop; a chassis set-up patch; and a paint booth. The workshop is staffed by 10 specially-trained Porsche technicians. Le Mans 24 hours This race, first run almost 75 years ago and famous the world over, needs nofurther introduction. The scene of many fantastic battles between the greatest drivers in motor racing (Ickx, Pescarolo, Rodriguez, Fangio, Hill,...) and the most famous constructors (Porsche, Ferrari, Ford Bentley, Mercedes, Jaguar...), the Le Mans 24 hours in THE long-distance race, the one that all racing drivers worthy of the name would like to add to their CV. You only have to see how eager such an accomplished star such as Mario Andretti is to add Le Mans to his list of victories (so as to join Graham Hill as the only driver to this day who has scored the hat-trick of winning the Formula One World Championship, the Indianapolis 500 and the Le Mans 24 Hour) to realise just how special this race is in the history of motor sport. Le Mans is above all a spectacle without equal. The figures speak for themselves: - 24 hours of competition for 150 drivers - 24 gours of extreme punishment for 48 cars reaching speeds well above 350kph - 210,000 spectators - 45 hours of international television coverage - 84 countries broadcasting TV footage - 1,800 accredited journalists - 579 dedicated publications in 28 countries Our trump card - Christophe Bouchut, winner of the 1993 Le Mans 24 Hours and the 1995 Daytona 24 Hour Race, will be a driver for Larbre Competition. Larbre Competition currently run a Chrysler Viper GTS-R in the FIA GT Championship and The Le Mans 24 Hours Race, they also run a Porsche 911 GT3R in the FIA GT Championship and The Le Mans 24 Hours Race.
