Biographical Information

Early Days in the U.K.
Andy Pilgrim began his racing career in his native England, racing karts, and was an undefeated regional Champion in 1977. He raced 180mph open class and modified production motorcycles in England between 1978 and 1980, amassing 71 wins and five Divisional and National Championships.
Stateside Racing
Andy moved to the United States in 1981 and started racing cars in 1984. His first professional race was in the Renault Cup series at Riverside, CA. - he started 18th. and finished 9th. His first professional win came in the IMSA Firestone Firehawk Endurance Championship in 1986 with a win at Sears Point in a Bayley MotorSports Pontiac Firebird. That auspicious start to his winning ways saw Andy win 20 more races in 106 Firehawk series' starts in the next decade. Considering the level of competition in Firehawk, his 20% win ratio is remarkable. Andy’s unbeaten (and likely forever unbeatable) world record of 116 consecutive race finishes in IMSA / PSCR events is unprecedented.
Versatile Corporate Spokesperson
With four professional championships to his credit, Andy is widely acknowledged as both an accomplished professional racing driver and a motorsports authority. His corporate work and non-racing activity is extensive and includes:
- SpeedVision Network host and Sportscar expert commentator of the weekly "On Track" Television show;
- Porsche host and narrator for the 1998 911 customer glove-box and dealer sales videos;
- BMW seminar presenter, technical expert and sales motivational facilitator;
- Ride & Drive Instructor for Lexus, Cadillac and Acura;
- Test Driver for Goodyear, A.C. Delco, and Kelsey-Hayes.

A "Corvette Expert" (click on photo to see larger image)
What does it take to be considered an "expert" Corvette driver? How about over 60 professional races, back to back race wins in the C5-R, a podium finish at Le Mans, numerous wins in North American championships, test driver, press day driver, and finally Smithsonian exhibit - not to mention owning several street Corvettes over the years. We probably shouldn't mention the "Cannonball Run" style, record-breaking time in a fully stickered Corvette Challenge car between Detroit and Dallas - to make it in time for a PR shoot!
C5-R 2000 Andy was "Team Captain" of the GTS class podium finishing #64 C5-R Corvette, at Le Mans. He also campaigns the #4 and #3 Corvette C5-R in the American Le Mans Series - narrowly missing a win this year at Mosport, but following it up with back to back wins in Texas and at Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. His drives this year have earned him international recognition, not least of which is a drive alongside racing icon, Dale Earnhardt at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in February, 2001.

C5-R 1999 Andy has been a regular test and development driver for the C5-R since the inception of its racing program in 1999.
C5 - 2000 Andy also contests a production based Corvette C5 in the SGS division of the Motorola Cup.
Production-Based Corvette Race Cars - Prior to joining the GM factory team in 1999, Andy had already raced Corvettes in several professional race series in North America. He was a regular participant in the tightly contested SCCA World Challenge, Playboy Series and Escort Endurance Championship, as well as the series that was the launch pad for many of today's world class drivers, the SCCA Corvette Challenge.

Corvette Challenge - In 1988/89 Andy was one of only a handful of winners in this million dollar event - a tightly scrutineered spec series that showcased driver talent in almost identical showroom stock cars. Andy won three Corvette Challenge races in 22 starts - eclipsing many seasoned top level drivers in the process.
GT Corvettes - In the mid-90's, Andy drove the Morrison GTS Corvettes in IMSA Camel GT races at Daytona, Sebring and Watkins Glen - co-driving with some of the world's most acclaimed Corvette drivers at the time, John Heinricy, R.K. Smith and Stu Hayner.
Street Corvettes - Andy was the only non-GM employee involved with the development of the breakthrough 1997 Corvette C5 production car. He was one of the GM factory drivers on hand at Mid-Ohio for the press launch of the revolutionary Corvette C5-ZO6.
Smithsonian Exhibit - Finally, the #92 Morrison Racing GTS Corvette bearing Andy's name is in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. - assuring Andy's place in the country's automotive history.
Andy's third place podium finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in June 2000, followed by the close 2nd. place finish at Mosport in August - driving the most high tech, expensively developed and most highly publicized factory Corvette in the history of the marque - are further milestones in his remarkable racing career and Andy's on-going involvement with the Corvette.
Personal car? What else - it has to be a 2000 Corvette Coupe!
Spare Time!
In whatever time he has between racing and business endeavors, Andy tunes up with high-performance motor-cycles, the present stable consisting of a Triumph Speed Triple, a Suzuki 400 enduro and his venerable 70's Laverda Jota. He also likes karting and mountain biking. His personal fitness regimen has resulted in an ability to regularly do double stints in the C5-R - at temperatures of up to 160 degrees! Andy's community service includes teaching safe driving to High School students in South Florida, (watch for Andy's new "Heads Up Driving & Riding" products coming soon).
Racing Helmets His Simpson racing helmets, custom painted by Bullseye Visuals of Indianapolis, are synonymous with Andy's love of cartoons - this year, his helmets feature Ren & Stimpy, Southpark and Warner Bros. characters.
